Inspired by Renato Bertelli’s Continuous Profile of Benito Mussolini (1933), this work reimagines the fascist icon as a playful yet subversive object. The original sculpture, a 360° profile of Mussolini, once symbolized the rigidity and self-glorification of the regime. In Capovolto, the figure is turned upside down — literally “the leader overturned” — and transformed into a spinning top. By shifting a symbol of authoritarian seriousness into a modern toy, the piece exposes the absurdity of fascist imagery while reclaiming it as a gesture of irony and liberation.
