Sede Vacante documents the days between the death of Pope Francis and the election of his successor, seen entirely from the people’s perspective. Rather than approaching the moment as media, I walked through Vatican City and Rome as an observer, capturing how the city itself transformed — from the funeral in St. Peter’s Square to the gatherings that followed. The work reflects a Roman’s point of view, focusing on the faces, emotions, and shifting atmosphere of a place suspended in history.
